This series highlighted the social and economic environment and transformation of the neighborhood - New York City's Chinatown. The texted-based neon work questions the very value and purpose of art itself, the artist's role in society and the artist as creator of value. It also implies the capitalist development in contemporary art sector and the transformation of art to pure liquid assets and tradable commodities. The exhibition was placed within a functioning hardware store, emphasizing the gallery's role and function in society and at large. The project aimed to illuminate the fact that some contemporary galleries are mere shops rather than spaces for discourse, aesthetic and intellectual value production. The artist and guest musicians staged a series of performances during the exhibition over three weekends in late fall of 2015.
