GJ Kimsunken's minimalist paintings sit between sculpture and painting. His work explores the relationship between color and structure and his recent series pushes this with irregular shaped canvases both large and small scale. For his earlier works Kimsunken would begin with a thick smooth application of impasto blanketing the surface of each canvas - then meticulously removing areas of the composition. Resulting in sensitive pure abstract works.
